Meet Dr. Van Nostrand, DC

Spinal Health & Rehab of Punta Gorda

Spinal Health and Rehab of Punta Gorda, located within the Punta Gorda Club, officially opened on March 1st, 2006.

Dr. Kevin Van Nostrand graduated from Port Charlotte High school in 1992. This long time Charlotte County resident holds a bachelors degree in the Science of Nutrition and a Doctorate in Chiropractic.

In 1997, Dr. Van Nostrand left a very successful practice in Oakton, Virginia to move over seas to practice Chiropractic in The Netherland's "Holland." There he became one of the first American Chiropractors to work in Holland's world famous social health care system. Working closely with some of Holland's best Orthopedic, Neurological, Chiropractic and Physical Therapy specialists, Dr. Van Nostrand experienced a different and more effective approach to treating neuro-muscular skeletal disorders (muscle related pain).

Dr. Van Nostrand specializes in treating all types of muscular skeletal problems ranging from headaches, neck/low back pain, disc pathologies, soft tissue (including extremity problems), sports related injuries, auto accidents, as well as general spinal health and wellness. His vision is to bring this type of "Chiropractic-Rehab" health care to Charlotte County.

Dr. Van Nostrand also donates 6 hours per week at Susan B. Andes Volunteer clinic in Port Charlotte. This clinic has been set up to provide free care to those who cannot afford health care. It is the perfect integration of medical and chiropractic models of healthcare coming together to best help those who need it the most.

Horse & Hound Animal Adjusting

Dr. Van Nostrand and his wife Courtney are proud owners of three Dutch Wirehair Pointing Griffons, a German Sheppard, a Hungarian Viszla and a Jack Russell. Additionally the couple enjoys their gated horses, a Paso Fino and Tennessee Walker, along with their multiple pet cows.

So in 2010 it was only a natural transition for Dr. Van Nostrand to return back to school for his Certification in Animal Chiropractic through The American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA). He received his Post-doctorate education in Animal Chiropractic from Parker Chiropractic College in Dallas, TX. He maintains his active certification and continues to attend continuing education courses.

In 2011 Dr. Van Nostrand and his wife opened Horse & Hound Animal Adjusting. A practice dedicated to improving health and enhancing the performance of equine and companion animals. Dr. Van Nostrand focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system and sensorimotor integration as a foundation for his therapeutic care. He has a special interest in proprioceptive and cerebellar funcation and its involvement in proper biomechanics of the quadruped in athletic performance and injury prevention. Working closely with local Veterinarians, Farriers, Animal Massage Therapists, and other specialists, Dr. Van Nostrand has experience treating all breed and sizes from Teacup Chihuahuas to draught horses.
